Let's hear it for the 159th anniversary of the "founding" of Seattle by the Denny Party:

"On November 5, 1851, the Denny Party left Portland on the schooner Exact bound for Puget Sound and the Queen Charlotte Islands. The Exact carried a number of settlers bound for Puget Sound in addition to the Denny Party, including Daniel Bigelow who settled in Olympia. After a difficult passage, particularly hard on the still-ill (Arthur) Denny, they arrived at Alki November 13, where David [Denny] greeted them with the words, "I wish you hadn't come."

This Saturday Nov 13th, The DooWahs are back at Salmon Bay Eagles in Ballard. (We got tired of Alki!) This wonderfully funky private club is open to anyone who wants to come in and hear the music; that makes it public, I guess. There's a big dance floor, generous drinks, good food, and it's an ALL AGES CLUB WITH NO COVER! So bring your dancing shoes, minors with an appetite and come out to Ballard this Saturday!

Honorary DooWahs for the night will be Billy Reed on keys and vocals and Doug Aslin on drums.

Special guest Nani Helbig will join us in the 2nd set on fiddle. Big Dad John Bigelow will shake the shack on tuba for the 3rd set.
